Baseball Game Preview: Denbigh Patriots vs. Heritage Hurricanes

Denbigh and Heritage are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2018, but likely not for long. Denbigh will head out to challenge Heritage at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Denbigh will be strutting in after a win while Heritage will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Thursday, Denbigh got the win against Phoebus by a conclusive 16-4. The victory continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Phantoms: they've now won four in a row.

The team relied heavily on Ben Bly, who went 4-for-5 with four RBI and two runs. Another player making a difference was Liam Blazek, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-5.

Denbigh was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .395. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Phoebus only posted a batting average of .167.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Heritage's offense. They lost 17-0 to Menchville on Thursday. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Hurricanes' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Denbigh's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Heritage, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Everything went Denbigh's way against Heritage in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Denbigh made off with a 19-9 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Denbigh since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
