Baseball Recap: Watseka Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against LeRoy, Watseka was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Iroquois West Raiders. For the Warriors, this counts as revenge for the 5-1 win the Raiders walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Watseka's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Waugh, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.

Watseka's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-11. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs across that stretch. As for Iroquois West, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Watseka will head out to square off against Armstrong at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Trojans' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Warriors' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Iroquois West, they will face off against Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
