Softball Recap: James Irwin Jaguars vs. Mitchell Marauders
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask James Irwin). They blew past the Mitchell Marauders 34-26 on Saturday. Considering the Jaguars have won three matches by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Savannah Lopez was incredible, going 5-for-6 with a home run, 12 RBI, and three runs. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits. The team also got some help courtesy of Stella Reed, who scored six runs and stole a base while getting on base in six of her seven plate appearances.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, James Irwin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .742. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mitchell only posted an OBP of .495.
The victory snapped James Irwin's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-6 record. As for Mitchell, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.
James Irwin will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against The Classical Academy at 4:00 p.m. As for Mitchell, they will play host again on Thursday to welcome Elizabeth, where first pitch is scheduled at 4:00 p.m.
