Baseball Recap: East Liverpool Takes a Loss

East Liverpool had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 1-10 to make it four. They lost 11-1 to the Brooke Bruins. The Potters were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bruins apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.

East Liverpool saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Donovan Shallcross, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that Shallcross has hit this season.

As for Brooke, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-7. The result was nothing new for the Bruins, who have now won nine matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

On Brooke's side, Henry Anderson made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts Anderson has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, earning two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Zac O'Mery was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Ty Sperringer was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

East Liverpool didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 11-0 defeat against Buckeye Local on the 19th. Brooke has also already played their next contest (against Martins Ferry), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
