Basketball Recap: Tattnall Square Academy Takes a Loss

If Tattnall Square Academy was riding high fresh off their 65-17 takedown of Twiggs County last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tattnall Square Academy Trojans were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 56-55 to the Mount de Sales Academy Cavaliers. The Trojans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cavaliers earlier this season, when they won 41-34.

Mount de Sales Academy was led to victory by Julia Bonbrake and Laura Lillie Sparks. Bonbrake dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards, while Sparks went 5 for 9 en route to 10 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists. That's the most points Bonbrake has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kenadi Lightfoot, who posted 13 points.

Tattnall Square Academy's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Mount de Sales Academy, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tattnall Square Academy has already played their next match (against First Presbyterian Day), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Mount de Sales Academy will venture away from home to challenge Stratford Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Stratford Academy will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Mount de Sales Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
