Baseball Recap: Crestview Comes Up Short

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Crestview and St. Paul, and St. Paul kept the tradition alive. The Cougars took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Flyers on Tuesday. The shutout was out of character for the Cougars seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in April.

Tyson Ringler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. He has become a key player for Crestview: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-12 otherwise.

Crestview's loss dropped their record down to 9-13. As for St. Paul, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Looking ahead, St. Paul will take on Calvert at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Senecas will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Flyers surely won't give up without a fight. Crestview will be paying especially close attention to St. Paul's match: after St. Paul faces off against Calvert, they'll take on Crestview again at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
