Palmyra fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Mexico on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 6-5. The Panthers' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Bryant Horstmeier was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Horstmeier was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, Palmyra got a big performance out of Colby Jones, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Rylan Compton, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Palmyra's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Mexico, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-10.
