Basketball Recap: St. Edward's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

St. Edward won the last time they faced Pineapple Cove Classical Academy, and Cody Simmonds did his part to make sure it happened again. The St. Edward's Pirates enjoyed a cozy 60-43 victory over the Pineapple Cove Classical Academy Patriots on Tuesday thanks in part to Simmonds, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. The game was his tenth in a row with at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Gary Anderson, who posted four points along with 11 boards and eight blocks. He is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted four or more in the last 14 games he's played.

When it comes to explaining why Pineapple Cove Classical Academy lost, don't look at Michael Barna. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds. That was a full 55.8% of Pineapple Cove Classical Academy's points, marking the third time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Samuel Welte, who earned seven points.

With the win, St. Edward's broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-8. As for Pineapple Cove Classical Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.

St. Edward's didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 77-61 victory against Master's Academy on the 30th. As for Pineapple Cove Classical Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Edgewood at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
