Softball Recap: Lawrence Central Comes Up Short

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Lawrence Central's offense. They fell just short of the Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles by a score of 1-0 on Wednesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bears of the 2-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2019.

Sophia Ruschhaupt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Lawrence Central dropped their record down to 1-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Guerin Catholic, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lawrence Central will head out to take on Ben Davis at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Guerin Catholic, they will take on Heritage Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
