Softball Game Preview: Sprague Olympians vs. South Salem Saxons

Sprague hasn't had much luck against South Salem recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Olympians will welcome the Saxons at 5:00 p.m. Sprague has given up an average of 10.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Sprague fell victim to McNary and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Celtics, falling 11-0. The Olympians just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Sprague saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Quincy Zerr, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Meanwhile, South Salem made easy work of Parkrose on Thursday and carried off a 14-4 win.

The team relied heavily on Elyse Sanders, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Orr, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

South Salem kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

South Salem's victory bumped their record up to 2-12. As for Sprague, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.

Sprague took their win against South Salem in their previous meeting last Wednesday by a conclusive 20-5 score. Will the Olympians repeat their success, or do the Saxons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
