Basketball Recap: Lyons Lions vs. Sterling Black Bears
After flying high against Kingman last Tuesday, Lyons came back down to earth. The Lyons Lions took a 64-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sterling Black Bears on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lions of the 64-34 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2022.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ethan Luck, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 16 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Xavier Solis, who posted 13 points.
Lyons now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Sterling, their win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2.
Lyons has already played their next matchup, a 63-62 victory against Hugoton on the 24th. As for Sterling, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 49-45 defeat against Scott on the 24th.
