Baseball Recap: Mater Dei Catholic Victorious

Mater Dei Catholic won the last time they faced Monte Vista and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Crusaders came out on top against the Monarchs by a score of 6-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Crusaders.

Gael Perez tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched.

At the plate, Luke Sosa was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and five RBI. He has become a key player for Mater Dei Catholic: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least one home run, but 4-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Joey Castillo, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Mater Dei Catholic's record now sits at 6-11. As for Monte Vista, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season.

Mater Dei Catholic will venture away from home to take on Hilltop at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Crusaders are facing the Lancers at the right time seeing as the Lancers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Monte Vista, they will welcome Montgomery at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
