Recap: Pinecrest Academy Cadence Cougars vs. Southeast Career Tech Roadrunners
The Pinecrest Academy Cadence Cougars had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They breezed by Southeast Career Tech at home to the tune of 63-35. Pinecrest Academy Cadence has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 20 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pinecrest Academy Cadence to victory, but perhaps none more so than Elijah Engfer, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Engfer pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kellon Trubey, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds.
Pinecrest Academy Cadence's victory bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Southeast Career Tech, they bumped their record down to 1-13 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pinecrest Academy Cadence will challenge Desert Oasis at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Southeast Career Tech's road trip will continue as they head out to face Palo Verde at 6:00 p.m. on January 18th. Palo Verde knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Southeast Career Tech likes a good challenge.
