Baseball Recap: Damien Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Santa Margarita, Damien was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They came out on top against the Charter Oak Chargers by a score of 5-1. That's more bragging rights for the Spartans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Damien got a great performance from Andrew Torres as he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Torres is becoming a predictor of Damien's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 2-1 (and 2-4 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Bobby Logue was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

Damien's record now sits at 4-5. As for Charter Oak, they dropped their record down to 3-7 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Damien will be taking part in a tournament against La Habra at 4:00 p.m. on the 31st. As for Charter Oak, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Santa Fe at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
