Baseball Game Preview: Lincoln Northwest Falcons vs. Buena Vista Bison

The Lincoln Northwest Falcons will venture away from home to face off against the Buena Vista Bison at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last five games Lincoln Northwest has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Monday, Lincoln Northwest had just enough and edged out Blair 4-2.

Kael Shearer looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

At the plate, Lincoln Northwest's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Thomas Shoaff-Tranick, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Buena Vista sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over Barstow on Saturday.

Julian Ramiez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gino Caniglia, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Anderson Craig, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Buena Vista's record is now 4-20. As for Lincoln Northwest, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-14.

Lincoln Northwest took their win against Buena Vista in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 20-6 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
