Recap: Suwannee Bulldogs vs. Columbia Tigers
The Suwannee Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 67-35 loss at the hands of Columbia. Suwannee has not had much luck with Columbia recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Suwannee's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Shadavia Jones, who scored nine points, and Kiera Jelks who scored nine points.
Columbia was led to victory by JOLENA GARDNER and AYESHA BROXEY. GARDNER scored 20 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while BROXEY dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points BROXEY has scored all season. ERIEL BAKER was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven steals and six assists.
Suwannee has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season. As for Columbia, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Suwannee will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Madison County at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Columbia won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Rickards at 3:00 p.m. on January 20th. Rickards is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
