Recap: Heritage Academy Gateway Heroes vs. Mission Heights Prep Phantoms
The Heritage Academy Gateway Heroes waltzed into their matchup Wednesday with four straight wins but they left with five. They walked away with a 76-67 victory over Mission Heights Prep. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Heritage Academy Gateway to victory, but perhaps none more so than Landon Johnston, who scored 19 points along with three steals. The game was Johnston's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Talon Lemieux was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Heritage Academy Gateway's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Mission Heights Prep, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-3 record this season.
Heritage Academy Gateway will face off against Empower College Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Empower College Prep will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 131st, while Heritage Academy Gateway is ranked 44th). As for Mission Heights Prep, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against James Madison Preparatory School at 6:00 p.m.
