Softball Recap: Oak Lawn Spartans vs. Hinsdale Central Red Devils
If Oak Lawn was riding high fresh off their 18-2 takedown of Crete-Monee on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Spartans fell 8-4 to the Hinsdale Central Red Devils on Saturday. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Red Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.
Katie Casey made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Those stolen bases marked the first that she has snagged this season. Clark Zylius was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base.
Oak Lawn has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-12 record this season. As for Hinsdale Central, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oak Lawn will host Thornton Fractional North at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Hinsdale Central, they will welcome Glenbard West at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
