Softball Recap: Grayslake Central Has No Trouble Against Cary-Grove

Grayslake Central barely beat Cary-Grove the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rams put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 15-2 win on Friday. Considering the Rams have won three contests by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Grayslake Central got a great performance from Kaylie Chapman as she pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kate Davies, who fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and one double while going 3-for-4. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emma Andrews, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Grayslake Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive games.

Grayslake Central's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Cary-Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grayslake Central will welcome Prairie Ridge at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Cary-Grove, they will take on Central at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup will give the Trojans their first taste of in-conference action this season.
