Baseball Recap: Brookfield Beats Kolbe-Cathedral for Their Tenth Straight Victory

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Brookfield). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Kolbe-Cathedral Cougars a 16-0 shutout on Monday. The victory was familiar territory for the Bobcats, who have now won ten matches in a row.

Brian Barry looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had over his last five games.

On the hitting side, Brookfield got a massive performance out of PJ Colla, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits Colla has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jack Murray, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.

Brookfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Brookfield pushed their record up to 15-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Kolbe-Cathedral, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-7.
