Baseball Recap: Garces Memorial Comes Up Short

After flying high against Liberty on Wednesday, Garces Memorial came back down to earth. The Rams fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 6-5 on Friday. The Rams were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Patriots earlier this season, when they won 10-2.

D'Angelo Flynn was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicoli Zunino, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run.

Garces Memorial dropped their record down to 11-13 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Liberty, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-14.

Garces Memorial and Liberty could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Rams will take on Bakersfield Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (367 vs. 91). Meanwhile, Liberty (ranked 227th) will meet Stockdale (ranked 77th) at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
