Baseball Recap: Mesquite Finds Home Field Redemption Against Cactus Shadows

There's no place like home for Mesquite, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Cactus Shadows Falcons on Wednesday. This was a revenge game for the Wildcats: when they faced off against the Falcons on Monday, they had to take a 10-8 defeat.

Cruz Lantz looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Noah Forney, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Andres Lozano, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Mesquite pushed their record up to 18-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Cactus Shadows, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 22-3-1 record.

Looking ahead, Mesquite will venture away from home to take on Mingus at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Cactus Shadows does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
