Basketball Recap: Karter Green's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Sayre over Northwest Area

Sayre and Northwest Area squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Sayre had to settle for second. They took a 50-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Northwest Area Rangers. While losing is never fun, the Redskins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 369th, while the Rangers are ranked 156th).

Several Redskins players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Karter Green, who posted 11 points and six steals. The dominant performance gave Green a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Zacharey Senese, who went 6-for-14 en route to 15 points and three steals.

Sayre's defeat dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Northwest Area, the win was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-3.

Sayre wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 66-60 victory against Northeast Bradford on the 26th. As for Northwest Area, they have also already played their next match, a 58-34 win against Muncy on the 27th.
