Basketball Recap: Stafford Takes a Loss

Stafford was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. The match between them and the Massaponax Panthers didn't end well, with the Stafford Indians falling 71-53. The Indians were not able to make up for their loss to the Panthers from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Stafford lost, don't look at Jackson Wallace. Despite the final result, he went 9 for 21 on his way to 25 points and five boards. Wallace has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Joseph Belk also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Leading Massaponax to victory were Christian Myers and Jaydon Brock. Myers went 8 of 14 en route to 21 points, while Brock went 6 for 8 on his way to 12 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave Myers a new career-high in points. Alonzo Bowler was another key player, going 5 of 10 en route to 11 points and five boards.

Stafford's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Massaponax, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-6.

Stafford has already played their next game, a 54-45 loss against Battlefield on the 15th. As for Massaponax, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 56-51 victory against Riverbend on the 17th.
