Basketball Recap: Tahlia Dolce and Janiya Joassin Secure Win for Piper

Piper lost to West Broward back in December of 2022, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Piper Bengals blew past the West Broward Bobcats 49-26. The Bengals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 23 points or more this season.

Piper was led to victory by Janiya Joassin and Tahlia Dolce. Joassin posted 22 points and six rebounds, while Dolce put up 19 points. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Joassin has scored at least a third of Piper's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aliyah Oldfield, who had five points and three steals.

Piper has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.0 points per game. As for West Broward, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Piper won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Plantation at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for West Broward, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on South Broward at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. South Broward's defense has only allowed 28.9 points per game this season, so West Broward's offense will have their work cut out for them.
