Softball Recap: Warrior Run Triumphs

Warrior Run barely beat Southern Columbia Area the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Defenders' pitchers stepped up to hand the Tigers a 12-0 shutout on Monday. Considering the Defenders have won five matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Lydia Keener made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Keener was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI. That run marked the first that she has scored this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Makenzie Heffner, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maura Woland, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Warrior Run kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 4-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Warrior Run's record now sits at 6-7. As for Southern Columbia Area, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

Warrior Run didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 13-3 loss against Loyalsock Township on the 28th. As for Southern Columbia Area, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 9-0 defeat against Hughesville on the 28th.
