Basketball Recap: Mateus Fernando Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Trinity at Meadow View

Christ Chapel Academy won the last time they faced Trinity at Meadow View and things went their way on Thursday too. Christ Chapel Academy came out on top against Trinity at Meadow View by a score of 54-43.

Christ Chapel Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mateus Fernando, who shot 50% from the field en route to 14 points along with six boards and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Amare Hicks, who went 5-for-10 on his way to 10 points in addition to seven assists and seven rebounds.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Christ Chapel Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Trinity at Meadow View saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Max Peacock dropped a double-double with 15 points and 12 boards. Peacock is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down 12 or more in each of the last four games he's played. Sam Friddle was another key player, putting up eight points and five boards.

Christ Chapel Academy now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Trinity at Meadow View, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Christ Chapel Academy is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will face off against Trinity Christian at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Trinity at Meadow View, they will face off against Georgetown Day at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
