The Male Bulldogs will venture away from home to take on the Meade County Green Waves at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Male is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
Male's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Monday's struggle, when Ballard hitters got past them. The Bulldogs came up short against the Bruins on Monday, falling 17-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Bulldogs have suffered since March 30, 2024.
Aubrey Miller and Mya Green stepped up to the plate in a big way. Miller went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI, while Green scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Green also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jayla Manning, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Central Hardin typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Meade County proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Bruins.
Veronica Roberts spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Savannah Miller, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Hannah Carter was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Meade County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in nine consecutive contests.
Meade County has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Male, their loss dropped their record down to 12-4.
Male couldn't quite get it done against Meade County in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 9-6. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
