Basketball Game Preview: Pettus Eagles vs. Yorktown Wildcats

Pettus is 0-10 against Yorktown since January of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Pettus Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the Yorktown Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Pettus fought the good fight in their overtime match against Kenedy on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Lions by a score of 64-62. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Eagles have suffered since January 23, 2024.

Meanwhile, Yorktown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a blow against Port Aransas, falling 80-19. The contest marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Yorktown's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Pettus, their loss dropped their record down to 4-15.

Pettus was dealt a bruising 67-37 defeat at the hands of Yorktown when the teams last played back in January of 2022. Can Pettus avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
