Softball Recap: Centennial Victorious

Centennial won against Alhambra last Tuesday with 21 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Centennial Coyotes didn't even let the ALA - Gilbert North Eagles on the board, marking the Centennial Coyotes' second-straight 21-0 shutout. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Coyotes.

Centennial let Brooke Denton and Leilani Diaz run wild. Denton scored three runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Diaz got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. With that strong performance, Denton is now averaging an impressive 1.7 stolen bases per game. Serenity Anchondo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Centennial always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .771. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

The victory got Centennial back to even at 3-3-1. As for ALA - Gilbert North, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Centennial will head out to challenge Desert Edge at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Desert Edge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season. As for ALA - Gilbert North, they will hit the road for the first time this season to take on Ironwood Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
