Volleyball Recap: Lowell Takes Down Ranked Methuen

Lowell faced Methuen in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Red Raiders walked away with a 3-1 win over the Rangers. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Red Raiders.

Lowell had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 27-25, 25-16, 29-27.

Methuen lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Shawn LaDuke, who had nine digs and one block. He is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted 18 or more in each of the last 25 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Lucas Giard, who had 18 kills and five blocks.

Lowell pushed their record up to 15-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Methuen, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-4.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Lowell is set to square off against their familiar foe Dracut at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Methuen will challenge rival Lawrence at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
