After flying high against Estancia last Friday, New Mexico Military Institute came back down to earth. The New Mexico Military Institute Colts fell just short of the Melrose Buffaloes by a score of 56-54 on Saturday. The Colts' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

New Mexico Military Institute's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Melrose, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

New Mexico Military Institute will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Non Varsity Tournament Opponent at 3:45 p.m. on January 9, 2025. Melrose will take on Piedra Vista in a holiday battle at at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday.
