Basketball Recap: Normal University Takes a Loss

Normal University lost against Pecatonica back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Normal University Pioneers fell just short of the Pecatonica Indians by a score of 56-54. While losing is never fun, the Pioneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while the Indians are ranked 15th).

Normal University's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Pecatonica, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

Normal University will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Tolono Unity at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Pecatonica, they will take on Hinckley-Big Rock at 12:50 p.m. on Thursday. Pecatonica knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Hinckley-Big Rock likes a good challenge.
