Basketball Recap: Riverview Triumphs + How To Watch

While Riverview's victory against Freedom wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Sharks narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Patriots 29-27. The victory continues a trend for the Sharks in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won five in a row.

Mikaylah Birch had another great game (as she tends to do), dropping a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards. That's the most rebounds she has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cam Lowe, who earned two points in addition to eight boards and five steals.

Riverview smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Freedom only pulled down two offensive rebounds.

Despite the defeat, Freedom saw an underclassman step up: freshman Ashari Blocker scored 12 points and seven steals. That was a full 44.4% of the Patriots' points, marking the third time in a row Blocker has had more than a third of the team's points. Ailani Garcia was another key player, putting up six points.

Riverview now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Freedom, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverview will host Bloomingdale at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Freedom, they will be playing at home against Chamberlain at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. The Patriots will need to watch out since the Storm have now posted at least 55 points in their last three games.
