Basketball Recap: St. Ignatius Makes It 14 in a Row at Home

St. Ignatius had won 13 straight home games dating back to last season and Damon Friery did his part to make it 14 on Saturday. The St. Ignatius Wildcats came out on top against the Buchtel Griffins by a score of 74-63 thanks in part to Friery, who went 7 for 16 on his way to 23 points and seven rebounds. The match was his third in a row with at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Jimmy Thomas, who posted 12 points and seven boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rebounds.

St. Ignatius is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.4 points per game. As for Buchtel, they moved to 9-4 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

St. Ignatius will face off against Centerville at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. St. Ignatius is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 72.5 points per game this season. As for Buchtel, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 73-46 victory against Firestone on the 14th.
