Basketball Game Preview: Tupelo Golden Wave vs. Murrah Mustangs

The Tupelo Golden Wave will venture away from home to square off against the Murrah Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Tupelo is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Mississippi's top teams: Clinton, who was ranked 25th at the time (Tupelo was ranked ninth). Tupelo was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 54-53 to Clinton. The Golden Wave's defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Murrah humbled Hillcrest Christian with a 67-23 victory. That 44 point margin sets a new team best for the Mustangs this season.

Murrah's victory bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Tupelo, their loss dropped their record down to 10-4.

Tupelo didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Murrah when the teams last played back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 54-49 win. Will Tupelo repeat their success, or does Murrah have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
