Football Game Preview: Edna Cowboys vs. Marion Bulldogs

The Edna Cowboys will head out to face off against the Marion Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Edna knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past seven matchups -- so hopefully Marion likes a good challenge.

Edna is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 63-7 victory over San Diego. The Cowboys might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by 22 points or more this season.

Edna's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ryland Slusher, who rushed for 51 yards and one TD. That's the most rushing yards Slusher has posted since back in October of 2024.

Meanwhile, Marion didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Jourdanton on Friday, but they still walked away with a 28-22 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

Marion had a senior duo take command as Tanner Otis rushed for 187 yards and one score while picking up 9.8 yards per carry and Kade Pape rushed for 145 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 96 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Marion was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 332 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Marion didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Emerson Blevins, Ian Nevarez, and Dillon Mora, who each picked up one interception apiece.

Edna's record is now 8-3. As for Marion, their record now sits at 7-4.
