The North Davidson Black Knights just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Ledford Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: North Davidson has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Ledford will arrive with three straight victories.
On Thursday, North Davidson came up short against Thomasville and fell 54-44.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ryan Forrest, who posted 12 points. Drew Hege was another key player, putting up 11 points.
Meanwhile, Ledford hadn't done well against Asheboro recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Ledford came out on top against Asheboro by a score of 64-56.
North Davidson better keep an eye on Isaiah Peele. He was instrumental in Ledford's win, going 8 for 13 en route to 26 points. Those 26 points gave Peele a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Grier, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 assists.
Ledford pushed their record up to 13-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.2 points per game. As for North Davidson, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as North Davidson and Ledford are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. North Davidson hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 56.8 points per game. However, it's not like Ledford struggles in that department as they've been averaging 66.4 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Everything came up roses for North Davidson against Ledford in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 71-31 victory. In that matchup, North Davidson amassed a halftime lead of 56-21, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
