The Sage Creek Bobcats will be taking part in a tournament against the Arapahoe Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Sage Creek put up the most points they have all season on Saturday. They put the hurt on Fallbrook with a sharp 17-3 victory. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Kellen Barclay-McCall looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits.
At the plate, Elijah Stephens and Max Biehl did most of the damage at the plate: Stephens went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs, while Biehl went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most RBI Stephens has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Danny O'Bryan, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Sage Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Arapahoe beat Denver North 11-6 on Tuesday. That looming 11-6 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Warriors yet this season.
Josh Lew was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Syers, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Sage Creek pushed their record up to 4-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Arapahoe, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
Arapahoe's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Sage Creek has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Arapahoe, though, as they've been averaging 12 hits. Given Sage Creek's sizable advantage in that area, Arapahoe will need to find a way to close that gap.
