Basketball Recap: Minster Takes Down Arcanum in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Minster walked away with it. They blew past the Arcanum Trojans 54-24 on Wednesday. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 20 points or more this season.

Caroline Long and Lexy Gibbons certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Long posted eight points in addition to six rebounds and three steals, while Gibbons had ten points. That was a full 41.7% of Arcanum's points, marking the third time in a row Gibbons has scored more than a third of the team's points.

The victory (which was Minster's seventh in a row) raised their record to 21-5. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points over those games. As for Arcanum, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 16-10 record.

Looking ahead, Minster will face off against Anna at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Anna will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Minster surely won't give up without a fight. Arcanum does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
