Preview: Fairview Knights vs. Monarch Coyotes

The Fairview Knights will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Monarch Coyotes at 6:30 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Fairview had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They pulled ahead with a 51-50 photo finish over Boulder. Winning is a bit easier when you make five more threes than your opponent, as Fairview did.

Spencer Brown was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with two steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Fairview's points. Another player making a difference was Bekkem Kritza, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.

Meanwhile, even though Broomfield scored an imposing 74 points on Tuesday, Monarch still came out on top. Monarch took their matchup against the Eagles 81-74.

It was another big night for Van Nellessen, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Tyler Carlson was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.

Fairview is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. As for Monarch, their victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-5.

This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Fairview have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Monarch struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Fairview couldn't quite finish off the Coyotes when the teams last played back in February of 2023 and fell 75-72. Will Fairview have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other basketball content.
