Basketball Recap: Walker Wolverines vs. South Atlanta Hornets
The Walker Wolverines had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They blew past South Atlanta 68-46. For Walker, this counts as revenge for the 70-58 loss the Hornets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
Walker found their leader in underclassman Anderson Carey, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points and 6 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Carey has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Moustapha Diop, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds.
Despite the loss, South Atlanta had strong showings from Bol Deng, who scored 13 points, and Saku Hurst, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Walker pushed their record up to 18-7 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for South Atlanta, their loss dropped their record down to 17-7.
Walker does not have any more games scheduled as of now. South Atlanta will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Business Engineering Science Tech has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 315 points over their last five games.
