Baseball Game Preview: Greenfield Knights vs. Rocky Mount Academy Eagles

The Greenfield Knights are taking a road trip to square off against the Rocky Mount Academy Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Greenfield's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Rocky Mount Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Wednesday, Greenfield and Highland Regional finished up on equal footing with a 4-4 draw.

Meanwhile, Rocky Mount Academy came up short against Grace Christian last Thursday, falling 18-1. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

With that draw, Greenfield's record moves to 14-5-1. As for Rocky Mount Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.

Greenfield's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's matchup. The Knights have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Rocky Mount Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Greenfield continue to outrun the ball?

Greenfield couldn't quite finish off Rocky Mount Academy in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
