Basketball Recap: Pensacola Catholic's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak on the Road

After flying high against Pensacola Christian Academy last Friday, Pensacola Catholic came back down to earth. The Pensacola Catholic Crusaders lost 69-45 to the Westlake Lions on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Crusaders have suffered since November 21, 2024.

Pensacola Catholic lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Terius Mason, who posted five points and five rebounds. Solomon Sutton was another key player, putting up ten points and six rebounds.

Westlake found their leader in sophomore Charles Matthews, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 16 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Amir Eichelberger, who put up nine points and seven rebounds.

Pensacola Catholic's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-3. As for Westlake, they pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Pensacola Catholic wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 82-78 defeat against Mount Vernon on the 28th. As for Westlake, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 78-65 loss against Archbishop Shaw on the 28th.
