Baseball Recap: Midview Has No Trouble Against Lorain

Midview barely beat Lorain the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Middies blew past the Titans 13-3 on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Middies in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won four in a row.

Camden Scott was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (two). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Midview is 3-1 when Scott posts two or more runs, but 5-12 otherwise.

In other pitching news, Henry Calcut looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Midview: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most two hits, but 5-12 otherwise.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Kaiden Vogelpohl, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Midview's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 4-13 when he doesn't). Benjamin Szczepanski was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Midview's record now sits at 8-13. As for Lorain, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Midview will head out to square off against Brunswick at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Lorain, they will venture away from home to take on Elyria at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
