Basketball Game Preview: Westwood Redhawks vs. Summerville Green Wave

The Westwood Redhawks and the Summerville Green Wave will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Westwood turned things around against Richland Northeast on Friday. They secured a 44-39 W over the Cavaliers.

Meanwhile, Summerville put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Cane Bay 55-19. The Green Wave have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 36 points or more this season.

Summerville's win came from a few key players Westwood will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Molly Daugherty, who went 6 of 14 en route to 14 points and five steals. That's the most steals she has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Cailah Tucker, who posted 13 points and five steals.

Summerville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in six consecutive games dating back to last season.

Summerville's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. As for Westwood, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 5-6.
