Football Game Preview: Haldane Blue Devils vs. Rye Neck Panthers

The Haldane Blue Devils are taking a road trip to take on the Rye Neck Panthers at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Haldane will be strutting in after a win while Rye Neck will be coming in after a loss.

On Friday, Haldane narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Hendrick Hudson 27-24.

Meanwhile, Rye Neck was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 24-16 hit to the loss column at the hands of Irvington.

Rye Neck's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Haldane, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Haldane took their victory against Rye Neck in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 by a conclusive 41-16 score. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Panthers' Hunter Merkel, who threw for 183 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 60 yards. Now that he won't be playing on Saturday, will it be easier for the Blue Devils to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
