Basketball Recap: Digital Pioneers Academy's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Digital Pioneers Academy had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.8 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Saturday. They strolled past the Surrattsville Hornets with points to spare, taking the game 61-47. Given the Pythons' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 15th in District of Columbia, while the Hornets are ranked 187th in Maryland), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Digital Pioneers Academy was led to victory by Amarii Bondale and Imran Buttt. Bondale went 5 for 7 on his way to 17 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks, while Buttt shot 4-for-5 from long range and dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten boards. Buttt's afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Donte Taylor, who posted eight points and seven boards.

Digital Pioneers Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points per game. As for Surrattsville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-7.

Digital Pioneers Academy has already played their next game, a 61-49 win against E.L. Haynes on the 28th. As for Surrattsville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 71-37 defeat against Largo on the 27th.
