Red Lion took care of business in their home opener on Friday (and then some). Everything went their way against the Dover Eagles as the Red Lion Lions made off with a 9-3 victory. That's more bragging rights for Red Lion, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Connor Lawrence was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (he also only allowed one walk). Lawrence was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, a triple, and an RBI.
In other batting news, Lane Heuer was incredible, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. Jaden Taylor was another key contributor, scoring a run and stealing a base.
On Dover's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brayden Bowlsbey, who went 1-for-3 with a triple and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of David Crone Jr., who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Dover are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.
Red Lion will head out on the road to challenge York Suburban at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Dover, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against William Penn at 4:15 p.m.
