Preview: Wellington Wolverines vs. Seminole Ridge Hawks
The Wellington Wolverines will be playing in front of their home fans against the Seminole Ridge Hawks at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
After soaring to 34 points the game before, Wellington were a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They were dealt a 43-3 defeat at the hands of Palm Beach Central. While losing is never fun, Wellington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 425th, while Palm Beach Central is ranked 61st).
Meanwhile, Seminole Ridge suffered a rough 34-14 loss at the hands of Dwyer on Thursday. Seminole Ridge was down 27-7 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Roberto Venero put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 137 yards while picking up 8.6 yards per carry.
Wellington has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season. As for Seminole Ridge, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-3.
Everything went Wellington's way against Seminole Ridge in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as Wellington made off with a 33-7 win. Will Wellington repeat their success, or does Seminole Ridge have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
